TITLE: Schizophrenia is not a neurodegenerative disorder
Sir Robin Murray, Instituto de Psiquiatria de Londres
Prof. Murray has been a key collaborator (and officially visiting professor) of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of São Paulo. Over more than 3 decades, he has pioneered several lines of investigation about risk factors and the pathopshysiology of psychosis, and his ideas have helped to shape much of what is known nowadays about the causes of schizophrenia.

TITLE: Brain Imaging in the Age of Big Data
Prof. Stephen Strother, Rotman Research institute and Baycrest, University of Toronto
Prof. Strother is the principal collaborator at the Rotman Research Institute, Baycrest and the University of Toronto of the research project jointly funded by the University of Toronto, and the University of Sao Paulo aimed at improving our computational infra-structure for neuroimaging research. During his presentation, he will talk about the Ontario’s Brain-CODE initiative, neuroinformatics pipelines for fMRI, and machine learning measures of the Alzheimer’s disease cascade using FDG-PET from the ADNI data set.

Dr. Nicolas Crossley, Pontificia Universidad Catolica, Chile
During his presentation, Dr. Crossley will talk about innovative methods used to evaluate patterns of brain connectivity using fMRI and DTI data. He will present applications of such methods to the investigation of psychoses and other mental disorders.
